2026 Men's Track & Field News
The Hartnell College men’s and women’s track & field teams sent eleven individuals to the 2026 3C2A Track & Field State Championship at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, CA and returned with four All-Americans, several lifetime events bests, and a USA Under 20 Championship qualifier.
Hartnell College managed a seventh place team finish with 58 points at the 2026 Northern California Championship held at Santa Rosa Junior College. The men were just two points shy of a top six team finish. The Panthers tallied fifteen podium finishes and will advance seven men to the 3C2A State Championship at Mt. San Antonio College on May 15-16.
Despite a surprising challenge from Chabot College, the Hartnell College men’s track & field team prevailed over two days of tough competition to win its forty-first Coast Conference Track & Field Championship and defend their team title from last year.
The Gary Shaw Last Chance Meet held at Hartnell College provided the men’s and women’s teams to compete at home prior to the Coast Conference Championship.
Hartnell College played host to the 2026 Northern Combined Events Championship
The annual Mike Fanelli Classic at San Francisco State University gives the Hartnell College distance runners an opportunity to run under usually ideal weather conditions with experienced four year and club athletes. This year’s meet was unusually warm but the Panthers were able to produce several top marks.
Competing primarily against four year universities at the West Coast Relays hosted by Fresno State, the Hartnell College track & field teams were able to show some impressive improvements to finish off the spring break week.
Spring break kicked off with an opportunity for both the men’s and women’s track & field teams to show improvement much closer to home at the CSM Bulldog Invitational in San Mateo.
Sophomore Julian Vargas has not competed in track and field since spring 2023 when he placed fifth at the 3C2A State Championship 10,000 meters
The meet was highlighted by top marks by sophomore Jenna Emerson in the long sprints and sophomore Aiden Ishimaru in the hammer throw

The Hartnell College men’s and women’s track & field squads competed in a three way dual meet with Cuesta College and Allan Hancock College on Friday.
The Hartnell College track & field teams ventured into Southern California in search of good weather and state championship quality competition.
The Hartnell women tallied 186 points behind Modesto’s 257. On the men’s side the Panthers scored 145 to Modesto’s 233.
Competing for the second time ever inside the Reno-Sparks Convention Center, the Hartnell College men’s and women’s track & field teams set eleven new men’s and eight new women’s program records.
